For 15 years of clinical practice, I have had the opportunity to specialize in Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health and Development for children 0 – 6 years old, and Perinatal Mental Health during the prenatal and postpartum periods.
My clinical background and therapeutic approach are based in psychodynamic principles, attachment-based interventions, and ongoing neurodevelopmental research. I have an extensive knowledge base in infant-parent attachment development and attachment disorders; trauma in infancy and early childhood; trauma in pregnancy and childbirth; assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation of infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities; and meeting the clinical needs of children with variations in social, emotional, and behavioral development.
I completed a dual degree for my graduate coursework in New York City. I received a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Hunter College, in Clinical Practice with a concentration on Psychodynamic Psychotherapy; and a Master of Science in Education (MSEd) from Bank Street College of Education, in Infant-Parent Development and Early Intervention. I began my career working in Head Start and childcare centers providing Early Childhood Group Play Therapy and mental health consultation. I then worked at Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center, where I was a therapist for parents and children 0 – 6 years old, who have experienced significant trauma, and young children with developmental delays. During this time, I also began my experience in integrated behavioral health, providing preventative infant mental health and development services through the HealthySteps Program in pediatric primary care. After moving to Colorado, I spent 10 years developing and overseeing Integrated Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health and Integrated Behavioral Health programs for children birth through 21 in pediatric primary care practices. In addition to private practice, I am the HealthySteps Program Manager at Every Child Pediatrics, a non-profit group of safety-net clinics.
Continuing to grow my knowledge and expertise is incredibly important to me. I hold an Infant Mental Health Endorsement (IMH-E) as a Clinical Mentor, a Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) in psychotherapy, and I am a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). I also remain closely tied with the Infant Mental Health community in Colorado, providing Reflective Supervision and Consultation to practitioners across the state, and I previously served on the executive board of the Colorado Association for Infant Mental Health as Vice President and Membership Chair.
