Practice Information
GETTING STARTED
The first step is to schedule a free phone consultation to ensure I am a good match for the services you are seeking.
When we schedule your first session, you will receive an email to set up your client portal account and complete all intake paperwork electronically. If you have questions regarding any of the intake forms, I encourage you to reach out to me directly.
During the first session, I will gain a better understanding of your concerns, goals, and gather additional information about you and your child. You will also have ample time to ask any questions. The intake process for psychotherapy services may take place over the course of one to three sessions, depending on the nature of your concerns and the specific services you are seeking. For concerns related to young children over the age of 12 – 18 months, the first appointment will be intended for parents only, in order to obtain information that may not be appropriate to discuss with your child present. At the end of the intake process, we will discuss treatment recommendations and establish goals. These goals may naturally change over time and will be periodically re-evaluated. It is important that you feel comfortable with your therapist and the course of treatment. If you have any questions about my approach or next steps, we should discuss them as they arise. If we decide together that I am not the right fit for your needs, I will help you find another mental health professional that would better fit your needs.
The intake process may look different for parenting support, coaching and consultation services, and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
MEETING WITH PARENTS
Parent involvement is essential for long lasting change, and parents are often brought into the playroom with their child. I also regularly meet with parents alone for collateral sessions to discuss progress and concerns, reevaluate goals for treatment, and to discuss topics that may not be appropriate to have with children present. Frequency of collateral sessions may vary and are based on individual family and clinical needs.
COLLABORATION WITH OTHER PROFESSIONALS WHO ARE INVOLVED IN YOUR CHILD’S CARE
I believe that children flourish when all adults involved in their care are on the same page and working together. With parental permission, I actively collaborate with teachers and schools, developmental therapists, occupational therapists, speech/language pathologists, physical therapists, child life specialists, pediatricians, and other professionals who are involved in a child’s care and education. These collaborations are important in order to provide the most comprehensive care possible and better outcomes for children.
When appropriate, and in collaboration with a child’s school, I am able to do classroom observations to best support parents, children, and their teachers.
Rates & Payment
RATES
My rate for a 50 minute session is $185. Accepted forms of payment include check, cash, and all major credit cards, including HSA and FSA. Payment is expected at time of service.
INSURANCE
I am an out-of-network provider and do not directly bill insurance. You will be required to pay the session fees at time of service and submit all paperwork to your insurance provider. I will provide you with a “superbill” and receipt for proof of payment, and any other information required by your insurance provider. It is important to know that the insurance company reserves the right to limit the number of sessions covered and review patient records and notes. Insurance covers treatment with a psychiatric diagnosis, even when receiving services for young children. For this reason, some people opt to pay out-of-pocket for therapy to preserve more privacy and control over their treatment.
If you are interested in using insurance, please contact your insurance provider to determine coverage for out-of-network benefits. Here are some good questions to ask your insurance provider:
Does my plan cover out-of-network mental health services?
What is my deductible for out-of-network benefits?
How many sessions does my insurance cover annually?
What is the coverage amount for each session?
Do I need approval from my primary care provider prior to receiving services?
Are there any exclusions for covered mental health diagnoses?
What information will I be required to provide when submitting for reimbursement?

SCHEDULING AND CANCELLATIONS
All appointments are scheduled directly with me by phone, email, or by messaging me through the client portal. It is your responsibility to make note of the day and time of your appointment. Ongoing therapy appointments are generally scheduled weekly, recurring at the same day and time. I require notice of at least 48 hours before your appointment time. I will do my best to work with you to reschedule your appointment.
If you are late for your scheduled appointment, you will not be able to extend the time of your session, and you will be charged for the full session.
CONSENT FOR SERVICES
Parents and guardians must consent to treatment for children prior to scheduling the first intake session. In cases of divorce or custody situations, both parents/legal guardians must provide consent prior to beginning services, unless there is legal documentation indicating that one parent has sole medical decision-making authority. In such cases, I require documentation of custody arrangements and/or allocation of parental rights and responsibilities, as available. Please reach out to me if you have questions or concerns regarding this policy.
Please note that I am not a Child and Family Investigator. I am unable to provide evaluations, conduct investigations, or provide guidance or recommendations regarding custody, parental decision making, or parental fitness.
CLIENT PORTAL
The client portal will be the most secure form of communication, and will be set up when we schedule your first appointment. The client portal is where you will complete all necessary forms and consents, upload documents, and can send me messages and emails. Email and text messages outside of this system are not secured or HIPAA compliant and should not be used to communicate confidential or protected health information. All confidential information should only be sent through the client portal.
TELEHEALTH
Telehealth is available for most services and is conducted using a confidential video platform. Please note that I am only licensed in Colorado and must abide by Colorado state professional licensing laws, as outlined by the Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA). Both you and I must be physically in the state of Colorado for a session to occur.
